Easy weekly regimen—3 weeks on, 1 week off
ORTHO EVRA® is a combination transdermal contraceptive that contains 6 mg norelgestromin and 0.75 mg ethinyl estradiol.

ORTHO EVRA® uses a 28-day, 4-week cycle. A new patch is worn for 1 week at a time and is replaced on the same day of the week for 3 consecutive weeks. Week 4 is “patch-free” and menstruation is expected during this time. On the day after Week 4 ends, a new 4-week cycle begins by applying a new patch. Only 1 patch should be worn at a time.

If a woman is starting ORTHO EVRA® for the first time, either a First Day Start or Sunday Start may be chosen.

First Day Start
If choosing a First Day Start, a patch should be applied during the first 24 hours of menstruation. If a patch is applied after the first day of menstruation, a nonhormonal backup contraceptive (such as a condom, spermicide, or diaphragm) should be used for the first week of the first cycle.

Sunday Start
For a Sunday Start, a patch should be applied on the first Sunday after menstruation begins and backup contraception must be used for the first week of the first cycle. If menstruation begins on a Sunday, the first patch should be applied on that day, and no backup contraception is needed.
